About us
Whether it’s the daily life in the Gaza Strip, the shady world of Egyptian resistance or the reconstruction of the Iraqi city of Mosul after the war with IS: we endeavor to unravel big themes through personal stories. Packed with our cameras, sound and tripods and filled with positive energy we travel the world.
Frederick Mansell (1985)
My parents named me after a great-uncle who traveled through war zones as a journalist. More than thirty years later, I do exactly the same. As a journalist I hope to discover unknown worlds, to unravel them and to explain them. After my studies I worked as an investigative journalist and television maker for Dutch national television: KRO Reporter, Argos TV Medialogica (Human / VPRO) and the NTR. Now I travel the world with Laurens to tell stories that we think should be told. Documentaries close to our main characters without comment and with an open mind. That brings us to strange places or to close to the fire.
Laurens Samsom (1986)
When I found out that I could make my curiosity my job, I didn’t have to look any further. As a journalist, I traveled the Middle East for three years; first writing for a Dutch newspaper, later filming for a Dutch news channel. Towards the end of 2015, I published my first book describing people in the Middle East who dare to swim against the current. Now that dimdocs has grown into an established documentary company, my curiosity has found worthy company. With Frederick, I discover new worlds and capture untold stories, far away or close to home.
